7 Tips For Creating A Welcoming Guest Bedroom

There is nothing more welcoming than staying at a family or friend’s house and being greeted by the most thoughtful and considered guest bedroom. Today we are sharing with you our top tips to ensure your guests feel comfortable and at ease when staying in your home. It is the little touches that make a difference, so we are here to guide you every step of the way to ensure that when guests can finally travel from interstate or overseas again, your home will be first on the list!

Great Quality Linen

Crawling into bed at the end of a busy day and snuggling into butter soft linen is one of life’s simple luxuries. We recommend not skimping on your linen for the guest bedroom and ensure it receives the same investment as your own. This includes a high-quality thread count sheet set, a thick doona insert, fluffy pillows and a beautiful quilt cover. We also love adding a few blankets to the end of the bed to ensure there are plenty of options for guests, depending on the season. Head into stores such as The Sheridan Outlet and Pillow Talk for an array of beautiful quality bed linen at affordable prices.

Calming Scents

We believe that nothing portrays a welcoming atmosphere more than a relaxing and luxurious fragrance. Add a lovely reed diffuser in a calming scent such as freshly washed linen, lime and coconut or sandalwood to immediately make your guests feel at ease when entering their bedroom. Room sprays are another great alternative and allow you to give the room a quick spritz before guests arrive to ensure the space is feeling fresh and welcoming. You can pick up some beautiful room fragrances from our retailers such as Provincial Home Living or Freedom.

A Tray For Essentials

To ensure your guests feel at ease and allow them to have everything they need, we love the idea of including a beautiful tray filled with essentials. This tray should include basic items that make staying with you easier such as a card with the WIFI password, a spare set of keys and a phone charger. If you want to take it one step further and ensure your guests feel spoilt, we love to include a luxurious hand cream, pawpaw ointment, tissues, and a candle. By adding thoughtful touches to the guest bedroom, it allows guests to feel welcomed and appreciated when staying in your home. You can pick up some lovely items from a variety of our retailers here at Aspley Homemaker City.

Pillow Options

As we are all unique in our sleeping patterns, so too are we unique in our preferences for pillows. From high and firm to low and soft, there are a variety of pillow options that suit everyone’s needs. For guest bedrooms we recommend choosing a few different pillow options allowing your guests to choose which one suits them best. Four pillows are a great number, not only for practicality, but for styling your bed as well. If you want to take it one step further, we love the look of two beautiful and fluffy European pillows as well! Head into The Sheridan Outlet or Pillow Talk and have a chat with the friendly staff to see what options will work best for you.

A Great Bedside Table Lamp

When you think about hotel rooms, one of the key design aspects that is never forgotten, is the bedside table lamp. The bedside table lamp is essential for a practical and comfortable bedroom as it not only allows for a variety of lighting levels but ensures your guests can unwind and read a great book at the end of their busy day. We love a statement bedside table lamp as it allows you to decorate in a more minimal way as the eyes are drawn to this beautiful feature in the room. We love Freedom and Provincial Home Living’s gorgeous array of table lamp options to suit any design style.

Accessible Storage

The guest bedroom can often become a dumping ground or storage room in the home. It is perfectly fine to utilise the wardrobe storage in these rooms, but when guests are over, we recommend relocating your items for the duration of their stay. This allows guests to feel at home and be able to unpack some of their belongings ensuring the floor space and room stays tidy. Allowing for appropriate suitcase storage is also essential in a guest bedroom and can be as simple as in the wardrobe or under the bed.

Don’t Forget The Towels

A beautiful touch that creates the illusion of staying at a five-star hotel, is adding some beautiful towels to the end of the bed. Not only is it a lovely styling touch but avoids the conversation of guests asking for towels down the track. We love using brightly coloured, patterned towels that complement the bed linen or opting for all white to create a ‘hotel-at-home’ feel. Check out Pillow Talk and The Sheridan Outlet’s amazing range of beautiful towels in a variety of sizes, patterns, and colours.
